Our verdict: 3.5/10
Sugar Defender is a liquid drop with 0.7 mcg of chromium and a 200 mg blend of 22 ingredients, with no individual amounts. Its sales page cannot agree on how many ingredients it has, and a CBS8 Verify investigation could not find credible information about its creator, “Tom Green”, or its company, and found customer photos reused from stock images and another product. The Better Business Bureau shows a “Pattern of Complaints” alert. The refund policy puts return shipping on you. Sugar Reset and Olivaro print the same label.
Read this first if you have diabetes
Sugar Defender is a dietary supplement. Its own fine print says it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and CBS8 Verify notes that the FDA says no dietary supplement treats or cures diabetes. Do not change insulin, metformin or any other medicine because of a supplement. The label lists chromium, gymnema and ginseng, which are sold for blood sugar, so ask your doctor before taking it with diabetes medicine.
Sugar Defender is one of the most advertised blood sugar supplements online, and most of what shows up for “Sugar Defender reviews” is paid press releases. We read the official sales page, its order page, return and shipping policies, the Supplement Facts image it publishes, the CBS8 Verify report and the BBB profile. We did not buy or test the product.

Who Is Behind Sugar Defender?
The site says the product is made by “Sugar Defender Research” and created by “Tom Green”. CBS8 Verify could not find any information about the company, or credible information tying anyone named Tom Green to blood sugar research. The label lists the distributor as sugardefender.com with an address in Aurora, Colorado, which is also the return address in the return policy. BuyGoods is named as the retailer on the main site.
The Label vs the Sales Page
| Topic | Sales page says | Label says |
|---|---|---|
| Number of ingredients | “24 proven ingredients” in the headline, “8 carefully selected ingredients” further down | Chromium plus 22 ingredients in the blend |
| Chromium | “Reduces obesity and lowers blood pressure” | 0.7 mcg, 2% of the Daily Value |
| Reviews | “4.98/5 based on 2000+ reviews” | Not a label topic. The BBB shows a Pattern of Complaints alert |
| Diabetes | A bonus ebook called “Learn How to Manage Type II Diabetes” | Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease |
Sugar Defender Ingredients and Doses
The only printed dose is chromium, 0.7 mcg. The 200 mg blend lists, in this order: maca root, grape seed, guarana seed, African mango seed, eleuthero root, astragalus root, green tea leaf, gymnema leaf, coleus forskohlii root, capsicum fruit, grapefruit seed, Panax ginseng root, raspberry ketones, L glutamine, L tyrosine, L arginine, beta alanine, monoammonium glycyrrhizinate, GABA, L ornithine, L tryptophan and L carnitine.
Ingredients are listed from largest to smallest, so the one in position k can weigh at most 200 mg divided by k. Our guide on what a proprietary blend hides explains the method.
| Ingredient | Most possible per serving | Amounts used in studies |
|---|---|---|
| Chromium | 0.7 mcg (printed) | 200 to 1,000 mcg a day (our chromium guide) |
| Gymnema leaf (8th) | 25 mg | 400 to 1,000 mg of extract a day (our gymnema guide) |
| Panax ginseng root (12th) | About 16.7 mg | The brand’s own reference list cites ginseng studies, with no dose to compare on the label |
NIH puts adult chromium needs at 20 to 35 mcg a day. At 0.7 mcg, a serving covers about 2% to 3.5% of that.
Sugar Defender Has the Same Label as Sugar Reset and Olivaro
Sugar Reset and Olivaro print the same Supplement Facts: 0.7 mcg of chromium and a 200 mg blend of the same 22 ingredients in the same order. Sugar Reset comes in the same 60 ml bottle at the same price for 3 and 6 bottles. Olivaro holds 30 ml for the same price. Our Sugar Defender vs Sugar Reset vs Olivaro comparison puts the three side by side.
What CBS8 Verify Found
- The creator. No credible biographical information tying a “Tom Green” to blood sugar research.
- The company. No information found about “Sugar Defender Research”. The site’s disclaimer page pointed to a “GreenGlucose” site that named no seller.
- The testimonials. At least two “real customer” photos appear elsewhere online. One is a stock model seen in dozens of stock photos. Another appears under a different name and state, promoting a different product.
- The ads. Facebook ads claimed people could “overcome diabetes”, and search results were full of fake news style articles that were really ads.
- The verdict. Asked whether Sugar Defender can cure diabetes, VERIFY answered no.
BBB and Customer Complaints
The Better Business Bureau profile for Sugar Defender in Aurora, Colorado shows a “Pattern of Complaints” alert. It lists “Advertising issues found by BBB” and unanswered complaints among the reasons for its rating. CBS8 Verify reported BBB complaints about refund problems and orders that never arrived. A complaint pattern is not proof that every order goes wrong, but it is the opposite of what the “4.98/5” badge on the order page suggests.
Sugar Defender Pricing
| Package | Per bottle | Total | Shipping |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 bottle (Digistore24 page) | $79 | $79 | $9.95 |
| 2 bottles (main site) | $79 | $158 | Extra |
| 3 bottles (main site) | $69 | $207 | Free in the US |
| 6 bottles (main site) | $49 | $294 | Free in the US |
Prices checked on October 15, 2026. The main site and the single bottle page use different checkouts, so the refund process you get depends on which one you use.
Sugar Defender Refund Policy
| Point | What the return policy says |
|---|---|
| Window | 60 days from the date of purchase |
| First step | Email support for a return authorization (RMA) |
| Deadline to ship back | Within 14 days of getting the RMA |
| Return shipping | Paid by you |
| Return address | Aurora, Colorado |
| Fine print | “Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded” |
Every package on the order page is presented as a discount, so the sale item line is worth asking about in writing before you pay. The policy reads like a general store template, with lines about books, CDs and gift cards.
Is Sugar Defender Safe?
Caffeine. Guarana and green tea are on the label with no caffeine amount.
Medications. Chromium, gymnema and ginseng are sold for blood sugar, and NIH says chromium may add to the effect of insulin and other diabetes medicines. Grapefruit seed is also on the label.
Amounts. With a 200 mg blend shared by 22 ingredients, the doses are small, which limits both effects and side effects. The bigger risk is someone delaying real treatment because of the marketing.
If You Want This Formula Anyway
The same label is sold as Sugar Reset, through BuyGoods, in the same 60 ml bottle for the same $207 (3 bottles) or $294 (6 bottles). That is where our link goes. To be straight with you about it:
- It is the same formula. You get exactly the same 0.7 mcg of chromium and 200 mg blend. Do not expect a different result.
- Its marketing has problems too. The Sugar Reset sales page uses a man in a white coat with no name and testimonials about diabetes medication, and its pages describe the guarantee in different ways. Our Sugar Reset review scores it 6/10 and lists every issue.
- What is different. When we searched on October 15, 2026, we found no news investigation and no BBB profile with a complaint alert for Sugar Reset. Some blogs call it a scam based on general warning signs, and our review covers those too.
If your goal is chromium, a plain chromium supplement with a printed dose gives you far more than 0.7 mcg for much less money.

Final Verdict: 3.5/10
The Sugar Defender label is the same 200 mg formula sold as Sugar Reset and Olivaro, with doses far below what research used. What pulls the score down is everything around it: a creator and company a news investigation could not find credible information about, reused customer photos, a BBB complaint alert, conflicting ingredient counts and a refund policy that puts the cost and the deadlines on you.
Who should skip it: anyone with diabetes looking for real treatment, anyone who wants to know who they are buying from, and anyone who wants a simple refund. If you want this formula anyway: the same label is sold as Sugar Reset, with the caveats above.
