Our verdict: 6/10

If you want to try berberine at the dose used in research, Insulin Herb is one of the few products we have reviewed that gets it right: 500 mg of berberine HCl per capsule, taken two or three times a day for 1,000 to 1,500 mg, the range studied for blood sugar. It is a one time purchase at $39.90 a bottle, or $33.30 a month on the 3 bottle pack, with a 90 day guarantee. The product is better than its marketing: the sales page plays down side effects and shows a testimonial from a buyer who stopped metformin, so read our note below before you order.

A good fit if you

  • Want berberine at the 1,000 to 1,500 mg daily dose used in studies
  • Do not take diabetes medicine, or your doctor has approved it
  • Prefer a one time purchase with no automatic refills

Not for you if you

  • Take metformin, insulin or other diabetes drugs without your doctor’s approval
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Take warfarin, cyclosporine or several daily medicines

Important if you take diabetes medicine

The sales page shows a buyer saying she stopped metformin, and its FAQ says berberine “can be taken on top of metformin” without mentioning any risk. Research shows that adding berberine to diabetes drugs lowers blood sugar further, which is why it should not be combined without your doctor. Never stop or change a prescribed medicine because of a supplement. Our berberine dosage guide covers the interactions.

Insulin Herb Berberine is sold to adults who want to support healthy blood sugar. We read the official sales page, its FAQ, the Supplement Facts label, the shipping and returns policy and the terms, and checked the dose and claims against Drugs.com and two published reviews of berberine trials. We did not buy or test the product.

Who Makes Insulin Herb Berberine?

The terms of use name Ezyabsor Pte. Ltd., doing business as InsulinHerb.com, and the footer says Ezyabsorb. Returns go to a fulfillment center in Englewood, Colorado. The site offers a contact form but no phone number, and the page says the product was created after a family member’s experience with type 2 diabetes.

The Insulin Herb Berberine Label

Insulin Herb Berberine Supplement Facts label

Each capsule contains berberine HCl 500 mg, milk thistle seed extract (at least 80% silymarin) 105 mg and piperine (black pepper extract) 5 mg. Other ingredients are vegetable cellulose, organic rice hulls and natural rice extract. The label warns it is made on shared equipment with milk, egg, soy, wheat, peanut, tree nuts, fish and shellfish.

The dose is the strongest point. Taken as directed, two or three capsules give 1,000 to 1,500 mg of berberine a day, the amount used in the blood sugar studies described in our berberine dosage guide. Most products we reviewed contain far less: FIMAVYN has 100 mg, and blends like Phytomem One do not print the amount.

What the Research Says About Berberine

Review What it covered What it found
Xie et al., Frontiers in Pharmacology, 2022 37 randomized trials, 3,048 people with type 2 diabetes Berberine lowered fasting blood sugar by about 15 mg/dL and HbA1c by about 0.63 points compared with control groups
Lan et al., Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2015 27 randomized trials, 2,569 people No significant difference from oral diabetes drugs in head to head trials; added to a drug, blood sugar fell further than with the drug alone

Berberine has more research behind it than most blood sugar ingredients. Drugs.com notes the trials are mostly small and short, up to about three months, so long term effects are not well known. We found no study of this product itself.

The Sales Page Claims

The page calls berberine the “insulin herb” and an “Ayurvedic miracle plant”, and its testimonials describe large drops in blood sugar, including one buyer who says she no longer takes metformin. The FAQ says berberine is “not known to have any major side effects”, while Drugs.com lists stomach cramps, diarrhea, gas and nausea as common, and dizziness, low blood pressure and heart rhythm problems at higher doses. On the positive side, the page cites real studies, recommends the studied dose split through the day, and states the fine print clearly: results vary and the product is not intended to cure any condition.

Insulin Herb Berberine Pricing

Guarantee and Refund Terms

The sales page advertises a “90 Day, Empty Bottle, 100% Guarantee”. The written returns policy says products can be returned within 90 days of purchase and asks that they be in their original packaging, and that you pay the return shipping. Because the two pages differ, contact support before you send anything back and keep a record of the answer.

Is Insulin Herb Berberine Safe?

Diabetes medicine. Combined with metformin, insulin or other glucose lowering drugs, berberine can push blood sugar lower. Talk to your doctor first and do not change your prescription on your own.

Other drug interactions. Berberine affects the liver enzymes CYP2D6, CYP3A4 and CYP2C9, which can raise blood levels of some drugs. Drugs.com lists blood pressure and heart drugs, cholesterol drugs, warfarin and cyclosporine. The formula also includes black pepper extract; if you take several medicines, show the label to your pharmacist.

Who should avoid it. Drugs.com says people who are pregnant or breastfeeding should generally avoid berberine, and lists people with heart rhythm problems, very low blood pressure, or severe liver or kidney disease as higher risk.

Stomach effects. Cramps, diarrhea, gas and nausea are the most common side effects. Splitting the dose across meals, as the label suggests, matches how the studies were run.

FAQ

Does Insulin Herb Berberine work?
There are no published studies of the product itself, but it contains berberine at the dose used in research. A 2022 meta analysis of 37 trials found berberine lowered fasting blood sugar and HbA1c in people with type 2 diabetes. The trials were mostly small and short.
How much berberine is in each capsule?
500 mg of berberine HCl, plus 105 mg of milk thistle seed extract and 5 mg of piperine. The directions say 1 capsule 2 to 3 times a day, for 1,000 to 1,500 mg of berberine.
Can I take Insulin Herb Berberine with metformin?
Only with your doctor’s approval. Research shows berberine added to diabetes drugs lowers blood sugar further, which can lead to low blood sugar. Do not stop or change metformin on your own.
How much does Insulin Herb Berberine cost?
$39.90 for one bottle and $99.90 for three, on the official page on October 22, 2026. Both are one time purchases.
Is it a subscription?
No. The page states all orders are one time purchases with no recurring billing.
What is the refund policy?
The sales page advertises a 90 day empty bottle guarantee. The written returns policy asks for the product in its original packaging and says you pay return shipping. Confirm with support before returning.
What are the side effects of berberine?
Drugs.com lists stomach cramps, diarrhea or constipation, gas, bloating and nausea as common. At higher doses it lists dizziness, low blood pressure, slow heart rate and abnormal heart rhythms. Berberine also interacts with many drugs.

Final Verdict: 6/10

Insulin Herb gives you what most berberine products do not: the studied dose, printed clearly, at a low price, with no subscription. If you are a healthy adult who wants to try berberine, or your doctor has approved it alongside your treatment, it is one of the better value options we have reviewed, and the 3 bottle pack brings it to $33.30 a month. It stops short of a higher score because its marketing downplays real side effects and drug interactions, and the guarantee is described in two different ways.
